I’ve been yearning for good Italian food for some time until the past weekend where I had an opportunity to do a review at Piza Ē Vino on Kyalami Corner in Midrand, as part of our Best of Joburg restaurants guide. The restaurant ingredients are fresh and their combination of flavours is well considered. The food was simple, yet very tasty.

I was pleased with the sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant had a good spacing between the tables for social distancing, and the staff wore masks at all time. The service was brilliant – thanks to our waitress, Buhle, who also suggested a few dishes for us. Additionally, the food did not take long at all between intervals.
For starter, we had mouth-salivating pollo impanata – crumbed chicken strips with peri-peri aioli; and mozzarella impanata – crispy fried and filling mozzarella sticks with tomato chutney.

The mains were to die for. We had spaghetti carbonara – an Italian classic with Dargle Valley bacon, parmesan, black pepper, white wine, onion, garlic, cream and egg; as well as James Brown pizza – chicken, bacon, guacamole, cheddar, red onion and barbeque sauce.

For desserts, Piza Ē Vino offers chocolate brownies served with ice-cream and chocolate sauce; mixed berry crème brulee – a traditional custard classic with a mixed berry surprise; dark chocolate fondant with a Lindor centre served with vanilla ice-cream; and speciality shakes – salted caramel and banana, peanut butter brownie and strawberry shortcake.
The restaurant has love for simple fresh food, cooked in a traditional way of using authentic methods. It’s food is rigorously Italian healthy and creative.
