Shamwari Private Game Reserve is celebrating the opening of its R5m wildlife rehabilitation centre, the refurbishment of its flagship lodges and upgrades to its luxury facilities by offering South African guests a 30% discount this winter.
Joe Cloete, CEO of Shamwari says, “We realize that many South Africans feel that luxury wildlife experiences are out of their reach, so we’re reducing our rates for short-term bookings at our magnificent, refurbished lodges.
“We’re doing so because we’re immensely proud of the results of the USD25m investment by Shamwari’s owners, Investment Corporation Dubai, and would like to showcase them. The investment sets new standards in luxury, service and hospitality and includes new menus, wine lists, a new coffee experience and a new spa brand.”
The offer runs until September and offers access to Shamwari’s renowned, tasteful luxury. Cloete says, “Whether it’s the ultimate romantic getaway for couples to Eagles Crag or a holiday for the while family at Riverdene, ideal for families with its Kids on Safari programme and adventure centre, Shamwari offers something for everyone.
“Activities included in the reduced tariffs include bush walks and excursions to both the Born Free Foundation facility and the new wildlife rehabilitation centre.
The sumptuous accommodation and catering compliment the unsurpassed, malaria-free game viewing with the country’s top rangers, and Shamwari has been described as the world’s leading safari experience and game reserve.
An essential component of its operation is the expansion, management, development and rehabilitation of its land following many years of farming. This effort, says Cloete, is paying dividends in the bounty of wildlife and biodiversity to which Shamwari is now home.
Its new wildlife rehabilitation centre focuses on injured or orphaned animals, enabling them to be returned to wild rather than habituated to humans. This experience is complimentary to all guests staying at Shamwari.
Also included is a visit to the Born Free Foundation, which jointly funds two sanctuaries at Shamwari which provides lifetime care to several big cats which have been rescued from poor conditions in circuses, zoos or private owners around the world.
The offer applies to a minimum stay of two nights and includes:
- Accommodation in a luxury suite
- All meals, including afternoon High Tea andnearly morning snacks before a game drive
- Two game drives a day, including a drinks-stop with snack
- Selected local beverages, excluding French Champagne and premium brands
- A tour of the new Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
- A guided bush-walk with a ranger
- A back, neck and shoulder spa treatment
