For the four days that the men take to the greens for the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City from 10 until 13 November 2016, the wives and girlfriends (WAGS) of men who play golf will have no reason for resentment.
They’re often pityingly referred to as grass widows or the WAGS. The term very aptly applies to women whose husbands are away for long periods of time; in this case, on the golf course.
As part of Sun International commitment to women empowerment the wives and girlfriends will be treated to a day of extreme pampering in a women-only programme that has come to be known as Style Affair. This event celebrates its 3rd birthday this year, brought back each year by popular demand.
The partners of golfers, their friends, members of the media, invited celebrities and golfing sponsors were transported into a world of luxury at Sun City. Dined at The Palace’s fine-dining restaurants and indulged with luxurious treatments in beautiful surroundings:
- Hand, shoulder and foot massages (Gatsby Spa)
- Nails by Morgan Taylor
- Make-up and hair by leading stylists compliments of Bijan
- Fashion styling by Dom Wolf
- Skin treatments by Sprout Aesthetics
- Fragrance experience by Liz ferret
Sun International PR Manager, Claudia Henkel says: “It’s wonderful to be able to entertain the women during this golf week, and showcase the wonderful entertainment possibilities at Sun City. We had a lot of fun!”
Sun International CEO Rob Collins said: “Women need to feel as though they are an integral part of the golfing week, not just silent observers. They are a very special part of this Nedbank tournament and we want them to be happy.”
This fun began at 11am on Wednesday November 9th where the women gathered at The Elephant Atrium, The Palace, for cocktails, champagne and canapes. The dress code was white with a dash of colour.
