The City of Tshwane will be hosting the Tshwane Food Fest on 06 August at Fountains Valley, from 10am. The festival aims to bring together people of different ages, races, cultures and gender under one ‘roof’ for the love of food, and to explore the various cuisines available in the South Africa.
Themed “An ART a city can narrate”, the festival will afford a platform for young chefs and people who are passionate about food to rent a stall for the day and prepare a meal that will be sold to the masses attending the event.
To incorporate a ‘proudly South African’ aspect to the event, participants will be requested to include an African aspect to the meals prepared, where people of the different cultures and races are able to identify with the food being sold, and subsequently also discover cuisines served in other cultures either than theirs.
The day will also include a variety of entertainment which will be accommodative to all that will attend. The day will feature entertainment for the entire family, and see a mix of food and drink. The program for the day will include a winery section by True Vine Winery, African Corner- the space will grant various SA based cultures the opportunity to showcase their favourite African foods and so much more!
With two headliner chefs who are no strangers to the culinary industry, Refilwe Tselayane former Master Chef Contestant will be there to serve mouth-watering treats baked to perfection. She will also facilitate a master class on the day for R50 extra and have her take participants, through how to turn ordinary meals into extra-ordinary ones.
Tshwane born Trevor Nguse concludes the headliner chef line-up and runs Trevor’s Kitchen with an astounding following of over 55 000 followers. Trevor has recently started offering Cake Deco classes with the vision of opening the first township culinary school.
