The home of admired Nedbank Golf Challenge, Gary Player Golf Course, has been voted the best golf course by readers in The Star Readers Choice 2015.
The Star Readers Choice programme, which sees thousands of readers vote for their favourite places and businesses over a period of six weeks, is a respected platform for gauging public opinion and votes of confidence.
“The Gary Player Golf Course continues to be rated as one of South Africa’s top courses, which is a great source of pride for Sun City. There is certainly no greater stamp of approval than a vote of confidence from a customer,” said Mike van Vuuren, Managing Executive at Sun City.
The Gary Player Golf Course is one of the most difficult and demanding courses in Southern Africa. It is also one of the well-kept courses, managed by Quintin Byleveldt. Both the Gary Player and the Lost City Golf Courses were designed by well-known South African golfing legend, Gary Player.
Player, who recently chose to celebrate his 80th birthday at Sun City, made history in November 2015 when he won the Gary Player Invitational tournament, presented by Coca-Cola, for a record consecutive time at the Lost City Golf Course.
Sun City recently revised the course rates to ensure accessibility of its two golf courses. The rate structure, now the same for both courses, has also been considerably simplified, making it easier for golfers and groups to choose their option, book and play.
