The Raj Indian Restaurant has opened doors at Mall of the South, bringing premium Indian cuisine to ‘Joburgers’ living in the South.
With genuine Indian chefs in the kitchen, The Raj Indian Restaurant combines the best aromatic Indian spices that are the essence of the large variety of cooking styles the Indian culture has to offer.
Speaking to guests at the grand opening of the restaurant on 24 November, Dr Arun Jairath explained that when the first The Raj Indian Restaurant opened in Kyalami he never imagined it would be the start of a very successful group.
“While doing further medical training in the UK I enjoyed some excellent Indian meals in restaurants and realised that back home there were no restaurants that offer a similar experience,” said Dr Jairath, who has been living in Johannesburg for over two decades.
H.E. Ms. Ruchi Ghanashyam, High Commissioner of India to South Africa was present at the grand opening of the new The Raj Indian Restaurant and explained how the many elements of India’s diverse culture, such as Indian religions, yoga and Indian cuisine, have had a profound impact across the world.
With a reputation for efficient and friendly service countrywide The Raj Indian Restaurant in the Mall of the South is set to become a meeting point and fine-dining destination for southern Johannesburg.
Not only does its menu offer a large variety of authentic Indian cuisine but it also offers an impressive wine list that has been taken from the Diamond Award winning wine list from the Montecasino branch.
The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 12:00 until 21:00 Sunday to Wednesday and 12:00 to 22h00 Thursday to Saturday. Bookings are not essential but larger groups are advised to call the restaurant to secure a table. The restaurant also caters for private functions.
