Full moon will be setting on Valentine’s Week and Outdoor enthusiasts should look forward to a memorable experience at the FALKE Full Moon Hike at Delvera.
A leisurely 9,75km hike on a marked circle route through the vineyards is on the offer, traversing the majestic Yellow Wood forest to the top of Klapmutskop in the heart of the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy. A spectacular sunset with stunning views of the winelands and even Table Mountain await at the top from where you can watch the full moon rise.
On Friday, 10 February the sun will set at 19h42 and the moon will rise at 19h22. On Saturday, 11 February sunset is at 19h41 and moonrise at 20h03. To make the most of this memorable experience, arrive at the trail centre by 17h00 and don’t start hiking later than 18h30 as it can take you up to one and half hours to reach the top.
The hike starts with the single track at the Pepper Tree – this will shorten the route to less than 5km in total. This option will take about 30 minutes to the top. You can be back at the Trail centre from around 20h30 – 21h30, depending on your walking speed.
Bring something warm to wear after dark and a torch, but there is a selection of Energizer torches available at the Trail Centre as well. Wear hiking shoes – you are climbing a mountain. To make the most of your hiking experience, wear comfortable hiking socks and shoes. The latest FALKE Advance Performance range of hiking socks is available at the Dirtopia Trail Centre. All hikers stand a chance to win a FALKE sock hamper every night.
Advance bookings are advised as space is limited. Book now at the Dirtopia Trail Centre by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or call 021 884 4357. Picnics must be booked and paid for at least two days before the event date. Menu options are available at www.dirtopia.co.za, but you can also bring your own.
