Cycling enthusiasts are once again gearing up for the Cape Town Cycle Tour’s seeding event, the 2016 Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Classic taking place at Sun City from 20 August.
The Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Road Classic distinguishes itself from other events with its emphasis on road safety, medical, good value for money and one of the flattest and most scenic routes through the North West Province.
The event first drew 1 800 riders in 1998, with a record number of 12 000 cyclists participating in the past three years. For the road race, there are two distances to choose from, a challenging 103km route and a 70km route. The ever popular kiddies race includes two categories; one for under five year olds and a second for 10 and under.
The mountain bike challenge, now in its 10th year, has grown to become one of the “must-enter” events on South Africa’s mountain biking calendar. The number of entries is expected to grow this year as it has consistently done since the event’s inception. There are two categories, a 50km and 25km.
The fun filled day culminates with the prize giving with huge lucky draw prizes. Sun City offers convenient and safe parking as well as a variety of family entertainment options once the racing is done, including free entry into the Valley of Waves.
Sun City is home to over 26 restaurants with menus and options to suit all tastes. Families are encouraged to make a day – or even a weekend – of it! Special accommodation packages are available.
