After the ultimate bush experience in the Selous, a short flight will have you in Pemba, where you will overnight at the idyllic Avani Pemba Beach Hotel, followed by a helicopter ride the next day to Azura Quilalea. The helicopter flight is a bucket-list experience in itself, flying over the pure turquoise waters and island outcrops of the Indian Ocean.
The remote island is the perfect spot to continue your honeymoon; expect warm ocean water abundant with sea life, unspoiled private beaches and coves, amazing cuisine served for breakfast, lunch and supper, and always in a different location – be it a beach picnic, dinner under the baobab trees or cocktails and tapas at the beach bar under the stars, with your feet sinking into the soft sand.
Quilalea offers a selection of incredible experiences too; from a sunset cruise in a traditional dhow to kayaking in the mangroves, snorkeling directly from the beach or setting sail for epic diving. A historic and cultural tour to nearby Ibo Island can also be arranged.
After a day of activities, retreat to the luxurious Villa Quilalea, privately situated on a cliff-top, with direct access to the ocean from a step-ladder. Villa Quilalea offers incredible accommodation – spacious with indoor-outdoor living areas, a large bathroom with standalone bath, a walk-in closet, and the most magical views, especially at sunset.
Couples will enjoy watching dhows sailing by while they sip cocktails on the extended outdoor deck or delight in a romantic candlelit dinner served in the villa’s private dining area. The villa has its own infinity plunge pool to cool off in.
Time stands still on the island, and couples will revel in the serenity. Honeymooners at Azura receive a range of special treats, including a bottle of sparkling wine from the owners’ estate in France on arrival and a special dinner and honeymoon turndown; all meals and house drinks are included.
