The South African Music Awards (SAMA) officials confirmed that DJ Black Coffee will be credited with the International Achievement Award at this year’s 22nd awards ceremony scheduled for 04 June at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC).
According to the SAMA officials, South African music is exploding on global stages and thanks to musical trailblazers such as Black Coffee. The Pieces of Me hitmaker was praised for his appearance at the 2016 Coachella Music Festival in California a few weeks ago.
Black Coffee began his career back in 1994 and has released five albums and one live DVD under his Jo’burg-based record label, Soulistic Music.
He is arguably one of the most influential musicians in Africa. He had his big break shortly after being chosen as a participant in the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy held in Cape Town.
On the 29th of September 2015, he won the “Breakthrough DJ Of The Year” award at the DJ Awards in Ibiza a few weeks after the release of his fifth studio album, Pieces Of Me.
