Sanlam has opened entries for this year’s Cape Town marathon scheduled to take place on 17 and 18 September in the Mother City.
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon brings with it prize money in excess of R2 million, the largest sum ever offered for a South African standard marathon.
Last year’s marathon had a total of 15 844 participants from 51 countries, with the 42.2km standard marathon seeing 5737 entrants, a 32% increase from 2014.
The 2016 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will be managed by a joint partnership between Western Province Athletics (WPA), ASEM Running and the City of Cape Town.
The marathon activities are as follow:
- Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 42.2km – the classic Olympian 42.2km standard marathon distance. 18 September – 07H00.
- Sanlam Cape Town 10km PEACE Run/Walk. 18 September – 06H50.
- Sanlam Cape Town 4.2km PEACE Fun Run. 17 September – 12 Noon.
- Sanlam Cape Town 12km and 22km PEACE Trail Runs. 17 September – 07H45 and 07H00.
