Kaya fm has launched the new music series, Live @TheBassline, kicking-off with a superb double bill show celebrating Woman’s Month on Saturday 01 August.
African songbirds Zamajobe and Maleh will take to the big Bassline stage in what promises to be an Afropolitan evening of pure entertainment and great soulful music.
Greg Maloka from Kaya FM said: “Kaya FM is committed to the celebration and promotion of South African artists. The stations strategy is clear in its music positioning with the Kaya FM Live & Unplugged music features and now Live @TheBassline which allows the station to broaden its platforms.”
Steeped in African choral music as a child, Zamajobe first burst onto the scene as a teenager back in 2003 with a top ten placing in Pop Idols. Blessed with a rich and soulful voice that belied her young age, she has since earned herself a unique space in the South African music industry, scooping numerous awards along the way.
Her debut album Ndawo Yami is widely considered an Afro Pop/Funk classic, and she has gone on to release another two sublime and soulful studio albums.
Her latest album Thula Mntwana was released in 2103, and she is excited about connecting again with her fans at The Bassline in August.
After a brief stint as one of the most featured female vocalists on the local house music scene, Maleh’s career exploded with the release of her much-anticipated debut album, the SAMA award winning Step Child.
She has since gone on to even bigger things – both locally and globally – following the release of her second album You Make My Heart Go, which scooped the 2015 SAMA award for Best African Adult Album.
This award-winning singer’s sound is a beautiful blend of mature yet youthful Afro Soul and Jazz. Her music celebrates and explores the many aspects of love, and she’s on a musical quest seeking the definition of a young African in today’s cosmopolitan society.
