South Africa – Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat has brought back the Family Fun package, promising a fun-filled wilderness getaway for the whole family during the Easter, Winter and Summer school holidays.
Family Fun promises a stress-free holiday that both young and old can enjoy. Located just 270km from Cape Town, at the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains, Bushmans Kloof offers impressive rock formations, wide open plains, crystal clear waterfalls and an array of nature activities.
Held during school holidays, the three-night Family Fun events allow the whole family to explore this natural playground filled with exciting adventures and activities. It’s the perfect way to spend quality time together away from everyday life, and to bond as a family in the heart of nature.
A specially devised children’s programme also means that little ones can roam the area under expert supervision, while Mum and Dad get to appreciate some peace and quiet during a leisurely lunch or dinner for two at one of the lodge’s unique dining venues; or with indulgent spa treatments at Bushmans Kloof’s holistic Spa.
Budding explorers will love the kids night walks, treasure hunts, spoor tracking and rock painting activities, while trained guides enlighten them about the wonders of nature. Table tennis, cricket and archery are also on the programme, and early child-friendly suppers allow parents some quality time together. Those brave enough will be able to camp out in the reserve on the last night, and will be rewarded with a prize-giving and photo session at the end of their stay.
In between their individual adventures, parents and their offspring can come together to revel in a host of family activities, from nature drives and visits to ancient San Rock Art sites to mountain biking, hiking, canoeing and fishing.
The Family Fun Package caters for families with children between the ages of 6 and 12, with older siblings welcome too. Babysitting services are available for younger children at a nominal fee.
Outside of school holidays, the Bushmans Kloof private villa, Koro Lodge is the perfect choice for guests with younger children, or those looking for total exclusivity. Situated in the heart of the reserve, about 2km from the main lodge, the converted farmhouse provides a tailor-made programme and includes the services of a private chef, hostess and a guide with game viewing vehicle.
Accepting children of all ages, Koro sleeps up to four adults and four children and offers flexible accommodation options with two beautifully appointed suites and a fun loft bedroom for kids. A specially equipped games and entertainment room features two single beds and a bathroom for additional guests.
Winter rates at Koro Lodge are from R13 475 per night, for up to four adults and four children sharing – complete with all meals, drinks and activities.
